Since instruction is the central focus of the educational program, the Board pledges the support necessary to enable district staff members to provide reasonable programs and services which meet student needs. The problems of a dynamic, changing society should be discussed at appropriate age and grade levels. The school community will teach about other systems of government, economics, and philosophies of life. The school community should seek to develop in the students a sense of self-worth that will enable them, with the necessary guidance, to recognize and use their own capabilities. The school community should nurture a spirit of inquiry which will capitalize on students’ innate curiosity, and reveal to them the excitement found in the search for knowledge. In keeping with this concept, the schools will ensure that all children who attend the public schools, regardless of intellect, ethnic, social or economic background, or disabilities, are provided with the greatest possible opportunities to use their abilities and interests so that they will find satisfaction in life and perform a useful function in society.
